Focus Calendar is a free printable monthly planner built around one important task per day. Choose a month, download a blank PDF, and write your daily priorities on paper. There is no account or installation. The calendar generator requires JavaScript; this guide does not.

Why Focus Calendar exists

Focus Calendar gives your most important task a visible place outside your inbox and task manager. Before the day’s messages and meetings start competing for attention, choose one result you would be happy to finish. Keep it beside your monitor, on your desk, or wherever you will see it while working.

The calendar is deliberately simple. It does not schedule every hour or ask you to copy your entire backlog. You can still handle routine work and other commitments; the daily box records the priority you want to keep in view.

For the author’s explanation of the approach, read Focus on a single task per day.

Quick start

  1. Open Focus Calendar.
  2. Choose Month and Year using the selectors above the preview.
  3. Set Page Size to A4 or Letter, matching the paper you will print on.
  4. Select Download PDF. The app loads the PDF generator and prepares the file in your browser.
  5. Open the downloaded PDF, check the month and year, and print it in landscape orientation.
  6. Each morning, or the night before, write one important task in that day’s box. Cross it off when you finish.

The browser preview is illustrative. Open the PDF to check the printable layout before printing several copies.

Choosing the month and paper size

The main calendar page opens with the current month and year according to your device. The year selector offers the current year and the next four years. Choose any of the twelve months within those years.

Links under Get Focus Calendar for other months open pages prepared for a particular month. These pages start with that month selected. You can still adjust the selectors before downloading. Changing a selector does not change the page’s URL, so copying the address after editing does not preserve those selections.

Choose A4 or Letter to change the size of the generated PDF. Both are landscape layouts. There is no portrait or custom paper-size option. Match the PDF to your printer’s paper, then check the print preview for clipping. Use your PDF viewer’s fit-to-page option if the printer cannot print near the page edges.

What is on the printed calendar

Each PDF contains one month, with weeks beginning on Monday and ending on Sunday. Every date gets a blank box for handwriting. Weekends are included, so you can use the same calendar for personal priorities as well as work.

When there is space before the first day of the month, the layout uses it for top priority. You can write a theme or result for the month there. Space after the last day becomes notes. Either area can be absent when the dates fill that part of the grid; these fields are not separate settings.

Day boxes in the browser are a preview, not editable task fields. Downloading produces a blank template. Write on the printout, or use a separate PDF annotation tool if you prefer to write digitally.

Choosing one useful daily task

Write a result you can recognize as finished, such as “Send the API proposal for review” or “Reproduce the checkout failure and document the steps.” A broad label such as “Work on checkout” leaves more room for uncertainty about where to start and when to stop.

Choose a task that fits the time you actually have. On a day with planning, support, or time off, a smaller result may be appropriate. You do not need to fill the whole month in advance: start with tomorrow and revise the plan as circumstances change.

If a task remains unfinished, decide whether to continue it, make it smaller, or choose something more important for the next day. The calendar does not track streaks, score your performance, or decide what to carry forward.

For a timed work session on the task you chose, use Focus Timer. Its guide explains how to turn a desired outcome into a focus block and a first action.

Downloads, saved settings, and privacy

The generator creates the PDF in your browser. It does not save a task list or upload a completed calendar to an account. The site loads analytics, including PDF download events; see the privacy policy for site-wide information.

The selected month, year, and page size are not remembered between page loads. Returning to the main page starts with the current month and A4. A month-specific page starts with its named month again. Keep the downloaded file if you want to print the same version later.

Nothing you write on paper is sent back to the app. If you annotate a PDF using another application, that application’s saving and privacy behavior applies.

Troubleshooting

The controls or download do not appear

Enable JavaScript and reload the calendar page. The PDF generator loads when you request a download, so the first file may take a moment to prepare. If the app reports that PDF generation is unsupported, try Chrome or Edge as suggested by the message.

The preview and printout look different

Use Download PDF and print the downloaded document. The browser preview is an illustration of the calendar; it is not the final print layout. Check the selected paper size and landscape orientation in your PDF viewer and printer settings.

I need a two-week team plan

Use Sprint Planner when you want to map the commitments and focus blocks across ten working days. Its guide explains the sprint forecast and printable plan. Focus Calendar remains a monthly sheet for daily priorities.
